The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leader in the presentation of natural history through exhibitions, public programmes, publications and the web.

A Software Engineer is needed for an exciting new role producing robust products, services and integrations to deliver the digital ambitions and goals of the Natural History Museum.

The developer will work across multiple projects and technologies to design, build and maintain custom integrations, back-end business and information systems (MS CRM, OTMM), custom web services and APIs (Java and Microsoft .NET) and Content Management System (Adobe AEM) components.


Hands-on development skills will be expected in Java application frameworks (e.g. Spring, Hibernate, Web services) and/or Microsoft C# as well as a solid understanding of a range of web technologies, platforms, and protocols.

The position offers high autonomy to really make a difference, and support to learn and master new technologies from an existing team of experienced developers, analysts and support staff.

Salary: £36,000 – £38,000 per annum plus benefits
