NEW DELHI: The Border Security Force (BSF) yesterday stated that it shot dead seven Pakistan Rangers personnel and a militant during cross border firing at the International Border (IB) in Hira Nagar sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.

The BSF’s retaliation was to a sniper attack by the Pakistan Rangers. “In a befitting reply to a sniper attack of Pak Rangers at 0935 Hrs (Friday) in Hira Nagar Sector of Jammu Frontier, BSF launched an aggressive offensive,” said the BSF. ..

The Director General of Pakistan’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Asim Bajwa, yesterday tweeted, “Indian claim of hitting or killing any Pakistani soldier/Ranger with firing at anytime of today at LOC/ working bdry absolutely false.”

Bajwa also said yesterday, “Indians resorted to unprovoked fire/shelling on working bdry in Shakargarh sec today. Pak Rangers befittingly responded. No loss on Pak side.”

The same day, ISPR said “Indians yet again resorted ..
